Academic Edge was founded on a simple observation: the students who succeed in competitive university admissions are rarely the most naturally talented. They are the best prepared.

Our founder holds an Oxford PGCE - a postgraduate teaching qualification from the University of Oxford. That experience didn't just teach how to teach. It provided something far more valuable: first-hand knowledge of the culture, the expectations, and the particular rigour of the Oxford admissions process. It meant working alongside the tutors and faculty who sit on interview panels. It meant understanding exactly what they are looking for, and precisely how most applicants fall short.

That knowledge is the foundation of everything at Academic Edge. Every programme, every piece of advice, every session is informed by an understanding of what the admissions process actually demands - not what students and parents often assume it demands.

We established Academic Edge because too many genuinely capable students were being failed by generic preparation. By tutoring that rehearsed exam technique but never engaged with the deeper intellectual demands of Oxbridge and Russell Group admissions. By personal statement advice that produced competent but forgettable applications.

Our approach is different. We work with students as intellectual equals - pushing them to think more carefully, read more broadly, and articulate their ideas with the precision and confidence that admissions tutors reward. This is not coaching students to perform. It is helping them to genuinely become the kind of candidate who earns a place.

We keep our numbers small. This is not a volume business. It is a commitment to doing one thing exceptionally well, for a small number of students who are serious about where they want to go.
